A Love Song for MS

A Love Song for MS by Andrew Karnavas

You are on my mind (and up and down my spine),
There’s no pill that I can take to get rid of you
I wish you would go away
But you are here to stay
And so I’ll do my best to learn to love you

I’ve been writing love songs lately, and I’ve been thinking about love in its many forms. This song is about my love for MS – Multiple Sclerosis. Two years ago MS came into my life, and we’ll be together forever. I feel like I was tricked into going on a blind date that turned into a wedding. “This is your new lifelong companion that will literally get on your nerves.” Thanks.

But MS has inspired me to eat right, to exercise, to rest when I’m tired, and to manage stress. MS has reminded me to be present and to always appreciate life. MS has motivated me to be more compassionate and to spend my time doing the things I love to do with the people I love.

Was it love at first sight? No. I have had to learn to love MS. But I’m glad that I did.

Love the interruptions. Don’t let them interrupt your love.
